Changing careers doesn’t have to be difficult. Whether you want to begin a new career in health care or learn new skills to supplement your professional experience, earning a degree in surgical technology will equip you to work as a well-paid, respected member of the surgical team. With demand for surgical technologists expected to increase dramatically in the coming years, there is no better time to head back to school.

Colorado Technical Institute has been preparing students for successful careers for over 40 years. CTU currently offers both an Associates Degree in Surgical Technology and an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Surgical Technology. CTU is an educational hub for new students and professionals who want to get an edge in a competitive job market.

Associate of Surgical Technology

Colorado Technical University has offered an Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology (AASST) since 2005. The flexible program is designed for students to complete in 2 years or less. Many surgeons prefer using techs who have earned an Associates Degree, as the credential implies greater training and more experience.

Surgical technology students study both general education such as anatomy, physiology, and biology. CTU also provides students with hands-on experience in modern, state of the art environments. Along with in-class work, CTU requires that surgical technology students complete 500 hours of clinical coursework to graduate. Extensive out-of-school experience is a great resume booster, along with the solid expertise learned through coursework.

As a bonus, all graduates of CTU’s surgical technology program are also granted CPR certification, confirming them as an American Heart Association Health Care Provider

The Associate of Surgical Technology degree is available at the Denver, Colorado and Pueblo, Colorado campuses.

Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology

The Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology degree is nearly identical to the Associate of Surgical Technology degree. Students can expect much of the same coursework, along with the 500 hours of interning at a local hospital. The similarly rigorous programs culminate in equally impressive and marketable credentials.

Colorado Technical University only offers an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Surgical Technology at its Kansas City, Missouri campus.
