Surgical technicians are well paid. In fact, you can make $35,000 per year in Indiana. This is just starting out in the field. Those that acquire more experience and skills earn well over $40,000. The top earners make close to $55,000. Surgical technicians in specialty fields and traveling technicians can earn a six figure salary. A two year degree can give you the edge to make really incredible money.
Training is paramount in this profession. You should choose an excellent surgical technology program. The position you hold is one of great responsibility. There are many great two year surgical technology associate programs around the country. You should investigate the institution’s accreditation and credentials. Some employers will accept a certificate in surgical technology. It is best to go for the associate degree program whenever possible. If you want to advance even further, you can pursue a bachelor’s degree in surgical technology.
