About Surgical Technician Careers in Georgia

Surgical tech’s are part of the operating room team. Surgical tech’s assist in preparing the operating room by preparing sterile and non-sterile equipment, setting up surgical equipment and instruments and making sure everything is organized. Surgical tech’s also get patients ready for surgery; washing, shaving and disinfecting them to prepare them for their operation. Surgical tech’s transport patients to the operating room, get them on the operating table, check vital signs and assist the surgical team.

This is a rapidly growing area in which the volume of surgeries throughout North America is on a great increase. These numbers are growing as our population grows and ages. The rate at which our technology is advancing in this area is also growing at a rapid rate. Surgical techs are expected to grow at a rate of 30% over the next decade (much faster than average). These were mainly in hospitals but there is an increase in clinics and surgical centers. Georgia surgical techs earn an average of $39,620 per year.
